Stonekit awoke with a gasp. Why was it so hot in here? She tried to get up and noticed a familiar brown, white, and blue patched paw hugging her close to a matching massive, warm body. It was her father, Earthstar! "Earthstar, you're going to smother Stonekit if you lay so close to her with that thick pelt of yours." Nightfrost, her mother purred. " w-what? Where am I?" Earthstar mumbled, quickly lifting his giant head. His fur was sticking up which made Nightfrost and her kits laugh. "Earthstar, your fur is sticking out everywhere!" Stonekit howled with laughter. Their leader looked at himself, his eyes widening. "I see that you slept well!" Tigerlily purred. " I thought Stonekit was a bit cold and decided to watch over her. Guess I fell asleep." Earthstar mewed, licking his fur flat. He'd been the best father possible while still being a leader any Clan would be more than willing to follow. Stonekit looked up at her father with pure admiration. She wanted to be just like him when she grew up! "Let's go play 'apprentice ceremony'! I call being Earthstar!" Stonekit squeaked, bounding out of the nursery and into the Main Clearing. "But you always play Earthstar!" Her brothers complained but ran after her anyways. Nightfrost and Earthstar stared after their kits with pride in their gazes. Then, suddenly, they heard a pain filled yowl break the peacefullness of the camp. The two cats immediately shot to their paws and ran as fast as they could to see what was happening.
