Silverfur could see fury burning in Hailstar’s eyes.
The gray leader growled with great self-control,” IceClan would like to congratulate DarkClan on their new warriors.”
He lashed his tail and yowled,” The meeting has come to an end.”
The IceClan cats gathered themselves together, murmuring in hush voices.
“How could they do that?”
“I can’t believe it!”
“Look at Hailstar, I’ve never seen him so furious…”
His fur was all fluffed out and his ears were flattened. It was all silent throughout the entire journey.
The cats who had remained in the camp rushed out when they sensed the uneasiness of the return.
Hailstar leaped onto the Rocky Ledge. There was no need to call for a meeting since all the cats had already gathered beneath.
He spoke in a grave voice. “Frostclaw and Grayfur had joined DarkClan.”
There were indignant yowling but they were silenced when Hailstar raised his tail. “Loyalty makes us strong. Where do your loyalties lie?”
“IceClan!” The Clan yowled back.
“Protect your Clan even at the cost of your life. Follow the warrior code. I have no more to say.” With one long gaze at his Clan, Hailstar disappeared into his den.
Blizzardfoot was hunched in a corner with Iceclaw beside. Willowfur whispered to Silverfur,” Blizzardfoot is in shock. He did not expect his brother to do such a thing.”
Silverfur nodded with sympathy to the white general. Her next words surprised him.
“Iceclaw is going to have kits with him.”
He stifled a purr. He hoped that Hailstar would get him an apprentice soon, probably Hailstone and Minnowfur’s son, Coldkit.
It was already getting dark. The moonlight shone through the gaps of the warriors den. He gazed up at the starry sky. Then, he closed his eyes and went to sleep, not knowing that he would have a great destiny lying ahead of him.
