A shooting star blazed a trail in the darkening sky. As the star fell, two cats were sitting side by side, their paws shimmering with starlight as they watched the unusual sight. The grass behind them parted, and another cat appeared, and growled, “It’s a sign.”
“We already know that, Russetclaw,” one of the two cats replied, “Shadow, air, water, trees and sky will come together and change the future of the Clans. It’s a sign that five kits will be born, each from different Clans, which will make a great change.”
Russetclaw hissed, “Don’t act like you know everything, Mudcloud. It also says that darkness stands in their way, and that they may not triumph over the darkness.”
The third cat, Whitetail, meowed, “Maybe after their birth, we should send an sign to the cats, to warn them of the trouble ahead”
“Don’t be so hasty, Whitetail,” Mudcloud meowed. “We must wait, remember what happened before when we were impatient? The Clans panicked so much that there was chaos. We must not repeat that again.”
“But we may not know that,” argued Whitetail.
Russetclaw retorted, “But it’s better to be safe than sorry. Whatever that happens next is in our paws, therefore we must choose wisely.”
