Anyway, I find your theory unlikely. After reading Toklo's Story, I thought that The first Seekers book began only about a day after the events of Toklo's Story. If my theory is right, that was a short time for Shoteka to lose control of his territory and get to the river before them. Shoteka also didn't reconize them.
